Casio's touch screen calculator watch is almost as old as me

The AT-552 Janus watches by Casio were released in 1984 and support touch screen gestures to allow you to use the inbuilt calculator.

They're not cheap, a minimum of £233 on eBay for a pre-owned one and around £500+ for a 'new' one.

We have a calculator in our pockets at all times now so there's unlikely to be much appeal for this type of functionality but from the demo in the video it looks accurate and it's pretty stylish.

The Captain Marvel website is awful

And yet it embrasses the 90s like nothing else. Built to look like a geocities.

The Space Jam website is often pointed at as a relic but it's a reflection of it's time. The same could be said of this website for Captain Marvel. I expected to see lots of simple code but it's been over-engineered for what it is. A true reflection of the time we live in.

Facebook's whack-a-mole markup battle against ad blokers

I feel like I've been shitting on Facebook over the past few weeks and here's yet another reason. Monetisation drives them more than anything and here they are butchering what gets delivered to you in order to ensure ads get maximum exposure. Perhaps if their business model, advertising platform and general conduct was more ethical they could offer a better experience.

I long for the day of unpersonalised ads.
