Climate change gets a network's spotlight by Ben Geman

This past Sunday, NBC devoted an entire hour of their 'Meet the Press' show to climate change and rather than opting for 'balance', they went all out with facts.

"We're not going to debate climate change, the existence of it. The Earth is getting hotter. And human activity is a major cause, period. We're not going to give time to climate deniers. The science is settled, even if political opinion is not." — Chuck Todd at the open of today's show

In the current political climate where it seems that you do whatever it takes rather than whatever is right, this is a great example for a broadcaster to take.

Brexit looms large in the UK and it's 'balance' which has been part of the problem. When lies are treated as the truth and when the truth is discredited by self-interest, deception and ultimately more lies, it's blows my mind that balance is sought over delivering the facts.

The intrigue: Climate's treatment on the Sunday shows and network TV overall has for years come under attack from advocates. They criticize sparse attention and appearances by non-expert guests who dispute the scientific consensus on human-caused warming.

Damning when we're talking about not just what's happening now, but the fate of the planet we'll be leaving behind for our children and theirs.
